What’s “new at NAMI NH” Newsletter
August 2006

News to distribute and share with your groups and classes
This newsletter is currently sent to leaders, teachers, NAMI NH staff and board members, so please make copies, or forward emails to add members to the distribution list.

Upcoming Events-
September 9- Affiliate Leader and Teacher Meeting
9-1:30 at New Hampshire Hospital, conference room c
NAMI NH Board members will be present to meet and network with affiliate leaders and teachers.
Mike Cohen, Executive Director will also be attending to get Teacher and Leader input on the proposed Strategic Plan.
The proposed Strategic Plan is making Affiliate growth a top priority, Please save this date to attend and share your important input!!
Watch for your invitation next week with expected agenda.

October 1- NAMI NH Walk
The proceeds from this walk will be used to support out Family support groups and Educational programs such as F2F and VFT. It cant be done without you! Contact Annette for a team captain folder, or go online to www.naminh.org and check out all the walk info.!!

October 1-7- Mental Illness Awareness Week
NAMI NH is planning a week full of activities, go to www.naminh.org for more information on the walk and MIAW

Affiliate News-
Seacoast Nami- Thanks to Alison and Jim Moore and Diane Cyr from the Seacoast for signing on to lead a walk team with a team goal of 50 and a fundraising goal of $10,000!!!
Peterborough NAMI – Rebecca Lawrence is again partnering with Monadnock Family Services to form a walk team for 2006.
Manchester Adult NAMI- Held a special information meeting on the walk and will be participating with Geri’s Gems this year.
Manchester Parent Group- You may remember Jonathan, our youngest team captain last year, well he is back!
Rochester Parent Group- Laurie Foster is leading the Parents Meeting the Challenge Team from Rochester.
Concord Adult Group- Tina Larochelle and Pat Nelson are teaming up to lead a Concord Team this year.
Littleton Adult Group- The North of the Notch group is going for largest team in 2006, a cookout and team kickoff will be held on August 22.

If your group is going to participate, register now, either on line or fax or mail your team registration to the NAMI NH office. All team forms can be found on the NAMI NH website; for walk info go directly to www.naminh.org/NAMI_NH_WALK_2006.php

NAMI NH wishes to thank Ed Kirby ( Affiliate Leader) from Nashua and Diane Cyr ( F2F Teacher) from Portsmouth for attending the Walk Kickoff event and speaking to the needs of NAMI NH.

F2F-
Diane Cyr and Theresa Melanson are teaching a F2F course in Portsmouth starting the middle of August.
Pat Ciccolo, Kathy Canedy and Geri Foucher are planning for a class to start mid september in Bedford.
Norma and Scott Smith are teaching in Nashua, starting Sept. 11 !!!

VFT-
Laurie Foster and Helen Harrison have offered to commute to Wolfeboro to bring the VFT class to that area. Classes start September 20.

Needed…….
Walk Captains and Walk day volunteers- come to the walk 1-2 hours early and join in the walk day set up fun!!

Artists and craftspeople who have a mental illness and are willing to display their artwork at the NAMI NH Arts and Recovery event- October 5 in Concord.

Reminder-
Please record calls or emails you receive regarding your affiliate and share this information with us. If you need another copy of the I & R (Information and Referral) Log please let me know. The information from these log sheets is vital to our grant writing.
