BERLIN'S FAMILY MEMBERS SUPPORT GROUP PAGE

The first and third Wednesday of every month, the Berlin NAMI group meets at 3 Twelfth Street from 6 to 8 p.m. NAMI is a support group that provides support for families that are dealing with a loved one that has mental illness. The first Wednesday is reserved for guest speakers and the public is welcome to attend and our third week is for support to our family members. The following is our 2008 Calendar of speakers and topics. These presentations are free and provide attendees with specific information on topics related to mental illness. Calendar of Speakers

May 7th - Janine Lapete, “In Our Own Voice” presenter, will share her own personal story of recovery.

June 4th - Bob Nylin will present on Substance Use and Mental Illness.  

July 2nd - Jen McCarthy will present on the Importance of Family Involvement in Treatment Planning.

August 6th - Ellen Tavino, B.S., Team Leader at the Alternative Life Center (Serenity Steps), will be speaking about peer support in general, how it's approach differs from the mental health center and what the Alternative Life Center's peer support centers offer.

September 3rd - Louise Valliere, RNBS Agency Nurse, will present: Psychotropic Medications: An Overview for Families and Other Care Providers. Overview will include: Antipsychotics; Mood Stabilizers; Anti-anxiety; Anti-depressants and Hypnotics.

October 1st – Nick Swogger-Hudson will be speaking about Anxiety Disorders.

November 5th Elaine Davis will be presenting on Depression.

December 3rd - Stacie Leclerc presents on Mental Illness & the Elderly.
