F.A.C.E.S. Network Project
Family and Adolescents: Collaboration, Education and Support
August 2005 Project Update
November 2005 Project Update
Introduction: F.A.C.E.S. Network is being funded through SAMSHA and was awarded to the National Alliance on Mental Illness NH (NAMI NH) in collaboration with the Granite State Federation of Families for Children’s Mental Health and the Alliance for Community Supports, Inc.
This is a three year grant that will establish a collaborative community-based network of adolescents and family members with children and youth (birth through age 25) with serious emotional disturbances. These three agencies will provide family and youth leadership, voice and management functions to all integrated initiatives of the State Department of Education and Department of Health and Human Services related to youth with SED and their families. The greatest challenge lies in establishing and sustaining a pool of highly trained, active, and well supported youth and family leaders locally and regionally within the state. This project will begin the building a Statewide Family Network in New Hampshire.
Together, these three agencies propose to develop an autonomous oversight board that will create, implement and evaluate a statewide family and youth support and education network. The primary goal of this network is to develop and nurture a cadre of youth and family member leaders at the local and regional level with New Hampshire.
Key objectives of the project are: To develop and sustain leadership skills and roles among young families To assure that youth leadership is nurtured and grown To positively empower families through education programs and support groups To improve the treatment systems’ responsiveness to individual family needs.
This project will be rooted in the values of Systems of Care and will build on the existing resources of the three primary entities.
