Family To Family

Family To Family

A tribute video containing moving testimonials about the NAMI Family-to-Family program from family members and course instructors.

Family-to-Family provides participants with a relaxed, trusting and safe environment where they can develop the insight, skills and emotional understanding they need to support the recovery of their loved one. This course is free and is open to family members and friends of adults with mental illness. Register online below.

Family-to-Family teachers are volunteer, illness-experienced family members who have been trained and certified by NAMI NH to teach the course. The 12-session course is offered in the spring and fall in communities around the state. Materials are provided free to participants.

“This educational program was a turning point for me, helping me to separate my daughter from the debilitating and frustrating symptoms of her disorder.”

“Family to Family is when I became an educated participant in my son's illness. It was in the moment of entering the room that I realized that I was not alone. This course empowered and energized me to continue to be a participant and to remind myself to continue to take care of myself.”

Participants will gain information on:

  • mental health diagnoses
  • medications
  • treatment options
  • how to access and advocate for mental health services
  • how to cope with symptoms, support their loved one in a crisis, promote recovery and manage the stressors that come with the caregiver role

Family to Family Teacher Training:
Currently Family to Family Teacher training is offered every 2 years. The 3 day training is held in the Concord area, generally in January, starting on a Friday morning and going through until Sunday afternoon. Overnight accommodations and meals are provided to participants. The next scheduled teacher training is January 2013. If you would like more information or to register to become a F2F teacher, please contact Ellen Malloy at Emalloy@naminh.org or call 603-225-5359.
