 asics is a free\, six-session program designed for parents and other famil
 y caregivers of children and adolescents with emotional and behavioral dif
 ficulties. NAMI Basics helps parents and other family caregivers of childr
 en to understand the illnesses that are causing those behavioral difficult
 ies and the critical role families play in the treatment of those illnesse
 s. The program is taught by NAMI Basics Education Program Leaders who are 
 also the parents or family caregivers of individuals who experienced emoti
 onal or behavioral difficulties prior to age 13.
