NAMI NH’s very own Elaine de Mello was recently honored and recognized for her service to New Hampshire’s mental health community at the 18th Annual Champions for Mental Health Awards hosted by Riverbend Community Mental Health. Each year, this awards ceremony “recognizes individuals or organizations in central New Hampshire who advocate for greater access to mental health services; contribute extraordinary time, talent or treasure to improve the lives of people with mental illness; or publicly give voice to those with mental illness, helping eliminate the stigma and stereotypes that can surround the disease.”
We couldn’t agree more – Elaine is a champion indeed! For decades, she has served as a leader in suicide prevention locally, nationally, and internationally. Elaine was instrumental in creating NAMI NH’s Connect™ Suicide Prevention Program, and continues working to strengthen communities and mental health systems through suicide prevention and postvention training. Throughout her career, Elaine has developed meaningful relationships with state and tribal entities, community coalitions, schools and campuses, and more. NAMI NH is exceedingly grateful for Elaine’s steadfast dedication to the field of suicide prevention. Congratulations, Elaine!
