NAMI New Hampshire offers groups in person and virtually that are facilitated by a trained leader with lived experience who is a family member, parent/caregiver, person in recovery from a mental health condition, or person who has lost a loved one to suicide.

Types of groups available in New Hampshire:

NAMI Family Support Groups are support groups for family members, loved ones, and friends of people living with mental health conditions. Led by trained volunteer facilitators with lived experience, these groups provide a safe place of understanding, encouragement, and hope. Family Support Groups offer a relaxed approach toward building hope while supporting others.

Certain groups meet with a specific focus, including a Co-Occurring Group for those with a loved one with both mental health and substance use challenges, and a First Episode Psychosis Group for those with a loved one who is currently experiencing early psychosis.

Groups meet both in person and virtually. Dates and times vary. 

NAMI Parent/Caregiver Support Groups are support groups for parents and/or primary caregivers of children, youth, and adolescents experiencing mental health symptoms. There does not need to be an official diagnosis. Led by trained volunteer facilitators with lived experience, these groups provide a safe place of understanding, encouragement, and hope. Parent/Caregiver Support Groups offer a relaxed approach towards building hope while supporting others.

Groups meet both in person and virtually. Dates and times vary. 

NAMI Connection support groups are free peer support groups for adults living with mental health symptoms. The groups are led by trained volunteer facilitators with lived experience who have faced the challenges of struggling with their mental health. These meetings provide a safe place of understanding, encouragement, and hope. Connection groups offer a relaxed approach to sharing the challenges/successes of coping with mental illness and work towards building hope while supporting others.

These support groups are for adults who have lost a loved one to suicide. Groups are peer-facilitated and comprised of fellow survivors who can offer great comfort through conversation and discussion of issues unique to bereavement due to suicide.

NAMI New Hampshire offers several Facebook Support Groups. Participation in these groups begins with answering a few short questions about you or your loved one to maintain the fidelity of supporting those impacted by mental illness. Content is moderated by NAMI New Hampshire staff and/or volunteers. Support is offered by peers and others who have similar experiences and can offer support and encouragement from their lived perspective.
