When you recognize that you or someone you love needs care for their mental health, it is important to connect with resources.
Onward NH (OnwardNH.org) is a website that provides information about early serious mental illness (ESMI) and where to turn for help. Symptoms of serious mental health conditions may include changes in how a person perceives the world, their thoughts, mood, hygiene, and social functioning. When these challenges strike, it is important to find resources – especially when a loved one is experiencing the first episode of psychosis (FEP). Treatment works, and the earlier a person is connected to services, the better the outcome.
Onward NH provides information specifically for the following groups: the individual having the experience, a family member or friend, providers, and educators. You can watch videos to learn about personal and professional experiences, read about warning signs, and use the resource pages to determine next steps. On the Education page, there is a webinar series which includes recorded presentations pertaining to serious mental illness. These informative presentations address a wide range of important topics, from how to get a loved one hospitalized, to practical information about marijuana and psychosis. Other content includes information about 988 and crisis response, housing, suicide prevention, transgender and non-binary youth, racism and mental health, peer support and much more. You can sign up at the bottom of any of the webpages to receive webinar updates.
