Protect Mental Health in the NH State Budget

Thanks to your advocacy, the Senate Finance Committee has voted to restore funding for the mental health system and eliminate Medicaid rate reductions. By taking action, you have made a real positive difference for the mental health of Granite Staters.

There is still work to be done, however. The budget now being worked on by the Senate Finance committee still contains increased cost-sharing policies for recipients of NH Medicaid, and proposes to sell the Philbrook Building, the current site of a transitional housing program available for individuals discharging from New Hampshire Hospital. Additionally, in the coming weeks, the Senate will consider further changes to the budget, including the opportunity to incorporate priority legislation, and will then have to reach a compromise with the House on which version of the budget to pass.

Now as much as ever, we need you to contact the Senate Finance Committee to thank them for eliminating Medicaid rate reductions and restoring mental health system funding, but also to ask that they:

  • Support transitional housing
  • Oppose Medicaid cost-sharing
  • Incorporate priority policies, such as funding for 988, housing and homelessness, and wraparound services.
