As a result of this training, participants will be able to:

  1. List at least 2 risk factors for suicide;
  2. List at least 2 protective factors for suicide;
  3. List at least 2 warning signs for suicide;
  4. List at least 3 skills for intervening with clients or others at risk and connecting them with appropriate resources;
  5. Summarize strategies for communicating with parents/guardians/family members or other support persons during crisis situations;
  6. State insights into confidentiality requirements and communication with others involved in the client’s care or treatment; and
  7. Describe community resources and strategies to increase suicide prevention efforts through the integration, coordination, and collaboration of community services (schools, mental health, law enforcement, social services, faith communities, etc.).
