Background and Presentation:
Young Adults play an important role in prevention. Despite the support systems and safety nets provided for young adults, the first line of defense in successful prevention efforts are young adults themselves. Young adults frequently bypass the adult world support systems and instead turn to their friends for help and understanding of mental health, substance misuse and suicide risk.

Funding given through the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) Partnership for Success Grant, and with the collaborative partnerships of the Bureau of Alcohol and Drug Abuse (BDAS), Regional Public Health Networks (RHPNs) and the National Alliance on Mental Illness New Hampshire (NAMI NH) have worked together to address the cultural sensitivity with engagement, commitment and success with young adult leaders.

This work is nothing short of amazing! You must see it for yourself.

About YSPA:
The Youth Suicide Prevention Assembly (YSPA) meets monthly to review youth suicides in NH, look at trends, and bring in speakers and topics which inform our suicide prevention efforts in NH. YSPA is opening up this topic for providers, Regional Public Health Networks, the Young Adult Coordinators and other interested parties to hear how this program came about and the development of it and its current results. This presentation, hosted by YSPA, will include a presentation given by Jill Burke (BDAS), Ann Duckless (NAMI NH) and Young Adults and Advisors. This presentation is available at no charge but participants are advised that the presentation will cover sensitive material which may be difficult for some individuals. This presentation will start at 10:00 am and no one will be admitted after the presentation starts.

Seating is limited, please RSVP by April 9th for your seat to Debbie Baird at dbaird@naminh.org
