support groups

Looking for support? Come and make important connections to others who:

    • Understand the challenges you face and the opportunities ahead
    • Feel the same way you do
    • Have had the same experiences
    • Will help you learn new coping skills
    • Will share their successes and strategies with you

NAMI New Hampshire offers groups in communities across the state that are facilitated  by a trained leader with lived experience who is a family member, parent/caregiver, person in recovery from a mental health condition or those who have lost a loved one to suicide.

Types of groups available in New Hampshire:

These groups are for family members and friends of adults with mental illness.

These groups are for parents of children/adolescents with social emotional challenges.

NAMI Connection support groups are free, peer support groups for adults living with mental health symptoms. The groups are led by trained volunteer facilitators with lived experience who have faced the challenges of struggling with their mental health. These meetings provide a safe place of understanding, encouragement, and hope. Connection groups offer a relaxed approach to sharing the challenges/successes of coping with mental illness and work towards building hope while supporting others.

Please register here to receive invites to our online groups or e-mail connection@naminh.org for answers to any questions you may have.

These support groups are for adults who have lost a loved one to suicide. Most groups are peer-facilitated, and all groups are comprised of fellow survivors who can offer great comfort through conversation and discussion of issues unique to bereavement due to suicide.

Please note that the groups listed below may not always be actively meeting. Regional Hospitals, local Community Health and Hospice, VNA’s and Mental Health centers may also be a resource for support groups in your area.

If you do not reach a group, call NAMI NH for up-to-date contact information: (800) 242-6264 or (603) 225-5359 or info@naminh.org.

Additional resources for loss survivors are available on our survivors of suicide loss page.

NAMI New Hampshire offers several Facebook Support Groups. Participation in these groups begin with answering a few short questions about you or your loved one to maintain the fidelity of supporting those impacted by mental illness. Content is moderated by NAMI New Hampshire staff and/or volunteers, but support is offered by peers, others who have a similar experience and can offer support and encouragement from their lived perspective. NAMI NH guidelines and principles of support still apply, please review prior to joining.

In addition the Life Under Construction social media pages are part of NAMI NH’s New Hampshire Family Network program and consist of Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok. They are run by-youth-for-youth, aiming to provide information and support to those affected by mental health challenges, as well as sharing leadership opportunities that can influence policies in mental health, education, and other related areas.
